My
name is Les (Leslie) Parris, and although I speak with a Scottish accent, I was born in Alexandria Egypt in October
of 1945.
I was raised in Rosyth, Scotland from the age of 3 months by my parents
Angelina (Lerario) and John Parris.
In
1965 I married Jean and we raised our family in Hawick, in the Scottish
Borders, and
I
emigrated to Australia in later years.
Each picture in this webpage represents a significant event
during my lifetime.
• The Pyramids represent my birthplace in Alexandria
Egypt.
• The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France represents the family
name 'Parris', although I have never been there.
• The Robert the Bruce monument represents Dunfermline, in
the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland; where I lived in neighbouring Rosyth.
• The 'Museum', the Jimmy Guthrie Memorial and ‘The Horse’
each represent Hawick in the Scottish Borders. The town where we raised our
children, John, Raymond and Lesley.
• The Wallace Monument represents Falkirk, Stirlingshire
where I lived before travelling to Australia.
• The bottom picture is King William Street in Adelaide,
South Australia, where I worked towards building a new life in the 'Land of
Opportunity'.
• As one who was born in Egypt
• Was raised in Scotland by an English Father and Italian
Mother
• Has a French sounding surname
• and Emigrated to Australia
I think I can claim to be truly, ‘Multicultural’.
I
have reason to believe the Parris Surname is too.
